Sarah Gardner

Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development

Sarah grew up on a farm in Smyth County where she was very active in 4-H and other organizations. She graduated from University of Virginia College at Wise with a B.S. in Biology in 2011. She has a strong history of working with the environment. She previously worked as a laboratory technician at Environmental Monitoring Inc and as a Conservation Specialist for Evergreen Soil and Water Conservation District. She is very excited to once again be working in Wise County, and to be a part of the 4-H organization. The 4-H motto is “Learn by doing.” Wise County 4-H lives this motto by doing hands on lessons in classrooms, programs, and projects. We have programs and projects for almost all ages ranging from Mini Gardens to Horse Club to volunteering your time and energy for service projects in our Teen Club. We also offer various Day Camps through the year and of course our weeklong Summer Camp held every year at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Center in Abingdon. If you are interested in joining or have any questions please reach out to Sarah Gardner.
